There has been some speculation recently about the name of our clinic. First, we would like to dispel any myths that we are connected to the church in Woodstock, ON. We have no affiliation with a church of any kind. What we are affiliated with is a holistic wellness approach that is inspired by the life-giving properties of nature and water itself.
The human body is made up of roughly 60% water and, apart from just quenching our thirst, it is a major influencing factor in every one of our body’s systems. Dehydration can cause organ failure and neurological dysfunction, it changes our digestion and blood consistency, and can eventually lead to death.
In the natural world around us, we see evidence of water’s absolute necessity in maintaining the earth’s equilibrium. The rains nourish the ground which feeds the plants; the plants produce oxygen which we require to live in addition to providing food for both human life and the soil itself as the plant matter decomposes and feeds more plants. Water is quite literally a necessary component for life in all its expressions.
The ecosystem of a river is one teeming with life, from the smallest molecular level of organisms to its largest manifestation of magnificent waterfalls. The river is home to millions of species and is the source of sustenance for millions more. It is a constantly changing entity – always moving, ever onward. It embodies an esoteric power and strength, of which humanity has always stood in awe.
We believe healthy bodies are much like a healthy river – constantly changing, always moving, housing (or contributing to) many more manifestations of life – our own little ecosystems. As a group of wellness practitioners or facilitators of rehabilitation and wellness, we see ourselves as one part of the ecosystem of wellness – much like the river which brings life. Through massage, reflexology, exercise, and wellness coaching, we endeavour to facilitate a space of healing so that clients will experience life more fully.
